Missy Knott Multi-Award winning, Nashville recording artist and Peterborough's own Missy Knott joins us for this year's Peterborough Folk Festival. Her first album, "For No Reason At All..." and the journey through her other recordings from "Runaway" from the early days, "A Love Affair" as a collaboration with Brian Mehlenbacher, and the most current "My Sister's Heart" have been her way of sharing her stories while building a community, foundation and strong love around her home in Curve Lake and Peterborough. In the past year, she launched Wild Rice Records and has been brought on board to develop a brand new radio station out of Toronto called 106.5 ELMNT FM with 25% Indigenous content.

They grew up listening to the music of their parents, and their parents' parents before them. The Lucky Ones' unique brand of authentic country-roots music imparts traditional arrangements with a contemporary disposition, reminiscent of old-time dances in hotel taverns and barrooms, barns, kitchens and saloons. Recipients of the 2018 Professional Recording Grant from the Yukon Film & Sound Commission, The Lucky Ones make their debut walking in the footsteps of such Northern Canadiana icons as Hank Karr, Al Oster, Buddy Tabor, and the Pointer Brothers.

Peachykine Peterborough's own Peachykine has grown rapidly in presence and style over the past two years since her debut as a solo musician. Orchestrating looped vocals with ethereal guitar tones and minimalist percussion, she leaves her audience reeling in foreign emotions. Her lyrics are authentically raw yet enchanting and speak on themes of love, humiliation, and mental illness. Perhaps best known for her DIY-approach, Peachykine aims to make music accessible to everyone both technically and emotionally. Her self-titled, bedroom studio 5-track EP was released this June and accurately showcases her diverse and outstanding abilities as a songwriter, performer, and producer.

Paper Shakers deliver a dynamic performance, full of energetic- alt-rock anthems that hook with a heart thumping beat. Since 2017 this Peterborough 5 piece have been writing songs that are layered with meaningful lyrical concepts situated in real life experiences. Their live performance leaves you questioning why you don’t attend more live rock shows. Guitar riffs equally fierce and catchy. Heavy handed bass and drums in the best possible way. Top that off with an entertaining, crowd engaging front duo that belt out stellar lyrics with just the right amount of tambourine. Paper Shakers have cemented their place in the Canadian music scene and carved their own niche, a thought provoking dance party.
